The Print Association Bentlage is a registered, nonprofit organization that currently has about 50 members. It is administered by a board of directors, elected for two years, and a general assembly.
Our principal focus is on new and original fine-art printmaking, as well as the preservation of traditional craftsmanship and the technical knowledge about it. We strive to be receptive to new developments, influences, and trends, with particular attention to their execution in an environmentally friendly and minimally polluting manner.
We see ourselves as fostering exchange among printmakers. We maintain partnerships with studios that have comparable objectives, we are in contact with universities, and we bring together artists of different nationalities. It is these artists who have made this art and printing venue so internationally widely known.
Our facilities have become an increasingly popular place among fine-art printmakers as a place to work, exhibit, and meet. Artists can book extended visits. to live and work in the uniquely special atmosphere of the Monastery, where living quarters and studios are situated in a secluded and peaceful historical location on the outskirts of Rheine.
Many artists appreciate that during their stay with us they can work largely undisturbed, focusing solely on their art. At the end of artists’ working visits, we offer them the chance to present their results with discussions and presentations. This way our members, as well as members of the public, can gain insights into creative aspects of the processes of fine-art printmaking. Additionally, some of our artists have been teachers for many years, and they pass on their experience in printmaking workshops.
